About Spalding Nix &

Spalding Nix Fine Art


Spalding Nix is an Atlanta native who majored in both Art History and Studio Art at the University of Virginia.  After working at Jackson Fine Art for a year after college, Mr. Nix attended the University of Georgia’s School of Law specializing in Intellectual Property & International Law. 

 

During his undergraduate and law school summers, Mr. Nix worked at The National Gallery of Art on their Design and Development team & in the General Counsel’s Office of The Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. 

 

After passing the Georgia Bar, Mr. Nix worked as an art consultant for Novo Arts & then for Sotheby’s in their Client Development group working closely with Sotheby’s Appraisal & Valuations Department. 

 

In the fall of 2003, Mr. Nix opened Spalding Nix Fine Art & Antiques.  The gallery's purpose is to bring fine, yet affordable, 17th & 18th century paintings and important 18th century French furniture to the southeast.  Mr. Nix travels to France regularly to purchases pieces for the gallery at auction.


Mr. Nix is an Associate of the American Society of Appraisers & specializes in the appraisal of fine art, antiques & collectibles.
