Médium won the French horse race La Coupe at Longchamp in 1893. La Coupe is one of France’s oldest horse races and is well known for its exceptionally beautiful trophy. The horse was owned by Prince Joachim Napoleon Murat (1856-1932). Prince Murat was a descendent of Napoleon’s favorite lieutenant, King Joachim Murat (1767-1815). King Murat aided Napoleon's coup d'état in 1799 and was appointed king of Naples in 1808. Signed lower right hand corner “J. Bressin 09”.
