CULTURE CLUB - The Grand Picture Gallery
On
May 20 at 6:30 p.m. John Nolan, curator of the Museum & Gallery at
Bob Jones University, will introduce their collection of over 400 Old
Master paintings and discuss their current exhibition, The Grand
Picture Gallery. M&Gs exhibition space is transformed into a
“showcase” gallery in the spirit of great private collections and
museums of the past as their most important Baroque paintings are hung
in a salon-style fashion sure to overwhelm the senses. Art from this
period forms nearly half of the museums holdings and positions it as
one of the leading collections of Baroque art in America. Guests will
learn about how collections were formed over the centuries and hung in
unique ways according to tastes and trends, and how the most prized
possessions were singled out in room such as a Grand Picture Gallery.
