On January 21st at 6:30pm please join Atlanta native Mr. Spalding Nix, prestigious Associate Member of the American Society of Appraisers and renowned proprietor of Spalding Nix Fine Art & Antiques, for a fascinating talk regarding infamous works of art and the daring criminals that steal them. Learn why thieves find these works so appealing, how they go about “acquiring” the objects and how they attempt to dispose of them. Using international case studies of high profile heists filled with a cast of jet-setting playboys, vicious mobsters, extremist terrorists and small time hoods, Mr. Nix will reveal how this criminal enterprise has become an international multi-billion dollar industry, third only to global drug and arms trafficking.

CULTURE CLUB - The Grand Picture Gallery

On May 20 at 6:30 p.m. John Nolan, curator of the Museum & Gallery at Bob Jones University, will introduce their collection of over 400 Old Master paintings and discuss their current exhibition, The Grand Picture Gallery. M&Gs exhibition space is transformed into a “showcase” gallery in the spirit of great private collections and museums of the past as their most important Baroque paintings are hung in a salon-style fashion sure to overwhelm the senses. Art from this period forms nearly half of the museums holdings and positions it as one of the leading collections of Baroque art in America. Guests will learn about how collections were formed over the centuries and hung in unique ways according to tastes and trends, and how the most prized possessions were singled out in room such as a Grand Picture Gallery.
