 Pierre-Eugène LACOSTE French, 1818 - 1908 Faunes & Putti Pulling The Chariot of Desire Pen & India ink over black crayon with brown wash & highlights of white gouache 38 by 58 inches framed
Born in Paris, Lacoste was a pupil of Léon Cogniet and Henri Cambon, & exhibited at several salons, including the Salon of Paris between 1839 & 1875. Lacoste is best remembered for stage decors & costumes at the Paris Opera, where they keep a lot of his work. This drawing was done in preparation for the painting below which is in a private collection in Paris.
