Albert Henri Sonneville was born in Roubaix in 1873. Roubais is located in northern France near the cities of Lille and Tourcoing on the Belgian Border. Sonneville was a student of Louis Cahrles Spriet, who also came from Roubaix, and of Jules Lefebvre. In 1921, Sonneville began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris, receiving a bronze medal in 1925. He also exhibited in the Salon des Indépendants.
