Born in Moscow, Russia, Sonia Grineva received her B.A. & M.F.A. from the Stroganov Art Institute, whose faculty has included Kandinsky, Malevich & Rodchenko. Upon her arrival to the United States at age twenty, Grineva continued her studies at the National Academy of Design, New York, where she was awarded a traveling scholarship, granting her the opportunity to study in Florence, Italy, at the British Institute. Grineva has gained an international reputation for her oil and watercolor landscapes & abstract paintings. Her work is in many notable collections including The White House, Washington, DC, Yale Club, New York, NY, Harvard Club, New York, NY, Time Warner Inc., New York, NY, New Britain Museum of American Art, New Britain, CT, Morris Museum of Art, Augusta, GA, Smithsonian Institution, Branch New York, NY, City Museum, Brunico, Italy, among many others . Her current studio practice is based in New York & Capri, Italy.
