Atlanta-based Artist Nancy Talero’s most recent body of work “Super Nature” explores the fine line between the natural and supernatural worlds through a series of geometric modular paintings. With these works, Nancy asks, “Where does nature end and the supernatural begin? What is reality versus perception, seen versus veiled, organic versus synthetic, creator versus created?”

“Super Nature” explores the merging of worlds and blurring of boundaries. In some paintings, the laws of physics and motion, represented 2-dimensionally, appear to affect 3-dimensional space. Other pieces challenge the limitations of the conventional canvas. “‘Super Nature’ proposes that the gap between what is merely natural and what is extraordinarily divine is often thinner, and more permeable, than we may believe,” says Nancy.

Atlanta native, Nancy Talero, finds joy in creating beauty and balance in interior spaces, exploring how art on a wall can engage with other elements in the space in unconventional or unexpected ways. This theme of integration is inherent in her most recent work. Each piece is a set of originally designed, hand-painted, solid wood panels that juxtapose clean lines with raw texture, mathematical order with uncontrived beauty, the synthetic with the organic. The shapes play with our sense of depth, dimension and perspective, and the hardwood is carefully selected, finished and configured to showcase unique grains and coloration in tandem with the painted portions. The subject has a relationship with the whitespace, just as each shape is in relationship with the others.

Nancy has a BA in Studio Art, drawing and sculpture, from Washington & Lee University. She studied art history and figure drawing in Florence, Italy. She is also a graduate of Portfolio Center with a degree in graphic design and has work experience in both NYC and Atlanta, where she currently lives.
